Rainy White Orchid Beach House Wedding
Lok and Jina had a rainy White Orchid Beach House wedding down in Makena. It was coordinated by White Orchid Wedding. I had talked with Lok and Jina on the phone prior to their wedding, and they were simply in love with the venue.
One thing they were looking forward to was lots of beach shots and lots of candid moments being captured. But the week they were set to get married, we had these huge storms move in. Storms like these are super unusual for Maui, especially in April. It rained all weekend, and their wedding day was no exception. Luckily, we were able to do the ceremony outside in between rainstorms. And then we were, thankfully, able to get some romantic shots before the rain moved in. It started coming down really heavily during the reception, but luckily we had coordinated for a tent to be outside. That way everyone could hide under the tent and it offered me the opportunity to get some really fun rain shots that I absolutely love.
A new, cool thing I got to photograph for the first time was this couple’s traditional tea ceremonies. Lok’s family is Chinese, and Jina’s family is Korean. So, they had two different tea ceremonies during the day to celebrate their wedding. It was so cool to listen to each family translate for the other. Jina also dressed in traditional Korean tea ceremony wardrobe during her family’s tea ceremony.
Rain or shine, we got incredible shots. What a beautiful wedding they had!
Lok and Jina: Congratulations on your beautiful, rainy White Orchid Beach House wedding! Thank you for trusting me to get the shots for you even when the weather didn’t want to cooperate. Cheers!
