Paia Family Portrait Locations

Paia Family Portrait Locations

If you're considering Paia family portrait locations for your family photography session - then you've come to the right place! Paia is on Maui's North Shore, about 15 minutes from the airport. We always highly recommend this location for families who want morning photography sessions.

Considering a family photo session in Paia? This is what you should know:

  • Mornings are the best on the North Shore. The light quality is better than anywhere else on island.
  • North Shore offers a more wild side of Hawaii. It's not as polished as South Maui but it has so much more character!
  • North Shore has the bluest water on island. So if you love bright blue skies and blue water - this is the spot for you!
  • We don't typically recommend North Shore for evening sessions with families. The wind picks up past 10 AM and it not only blows the sand but it's also going to blow your hair around!

1. Baldwin Beach

Baldwin Beach is located on Maui's north shore and has blue water, amazing views of the West Maui Mountains, and mostly empty beaches. It is our most popular beach location for morning family portraits.

Pros: empty beaches, bright blue water, blue skies, rainbows (not guaranteed, of course), diversity of beach and woods.

Cons: waves can be large at times, dogs are typically without leashes on the beach (it's never been a problem), sometimes it can rain during the winters.

Recommended for: large families

Examples: Kaedon + Family on Baldwin Beach // Jack + Family on Baldwin Beach

*This location has a public bathroom and a fresh water foot wash

2. Stable Road Beach

Stable Road Beach is located just before Paia town on Maui's north shore. It's calm

Pros: empty beach, bright blue water, blue skies, rainbows (not guaranteed, of course), diversity of beach and woods, some palm trees

Cons: during high tide the beach can get very narrow, no bathroom or access to fresh water

Recommended for: Families with four or less people. Great for babies because there is a reef wall that breaks the waves and makes the ocean calm when it meets the shore!
